How does society affect change in the individual?
Society and the individual have a delicate and intricate relationship. This relationship can be thrown off at any time. In this delicate relationship is a system of checks and balances that keep it in line when it starts to unbalance its self. This system is just part of human nature and like human nature it varies. Every person is affected differently by the society and every society is affected differently by the person.
In one sense one person cannot affect the society but one idea can. This one idea or belief can spark from one person and can spread across society. When the idea spreads from person to person it slowly changes the view of those people. Those people then change the views of other people. Then before you know it you wind up with a different society.
This change is not without struggle. People are naturally opinionated and for that it is hard to change their minds. This is a struggle seen throughout history. It takes a long time for society to change and because of that it is hard to change society. The problem is that in order to change society you have to change the minds of over 50% of the people and that can prove to be almost impossible. It's a wonder how society has changes so much in the past and how it continues to change.
So how does society affect change in the individual?? Well it's really simple. Humans naturally want to fit in so if you put a person in a different society they would most likely conform to it. They would at first observe. Then they would compare views. And finally they would conform. Only a handful of people would keep their own views. You could say that it's much more likely for a society to change a person then a person to change society. When the candidates make claims of change they may not realize what their getting themselves into.
When a society changes a person's views it really doesn't change them. It just masks them at first. The fact is that those thoughts lay waiting to revive again and this time even stronger. Take moving to another country for 1 year as opposed to a month. If you stay for a month and move back you have the same views as before but If you stay for a year ad move back you have most likely adopted their society and lost most of your original views.
The point is that society impacts the person an a person impacts the society. They all affect one another to the point that can be easily noticed. Somtimes soicety needs changing and other times people need changing. Every person is diffent so our wish of a perfect socety may never come true. The fact is that we can only do our best in this changing world and hope that one day the world will be better for it.

My State
North Carolina is a state of great importance. One of the reasons it is important is because it is now classified as a swing state. It being a swing state makes it crucial to the election because the electoral votes could go either way instead of being somewhat predetermined. Another reason North Carolina is important is because it has a sizable amount of natural gas off it's shores. This natural gas could be tapped into to lower the price of gas. The problem lies in the potential environmental effects and the ruining of N.C. beautiful coast. Which ever candidate sides with the beauty instead of the prices is likely to win N.C.

Candidate's Tables

From these two lines I believe Obama will win because toward the end his percentage began to rise while McCain's began to decline. The line of linear regression was too far off to be used as a reliable tool. The percentages I got back for the election were bogus. The fact is that there are too many variations in the line to use it. The line of linear regression would only work in a steady increase or decrease.

This Collage Represents the Republican party and what they stand for or against. The gun signifies the parties promise to uphold are right to bare arms. The same sex symbol's signify the Republicans lax support of gay marriage. The health care symbol is to show the Republican's will to improve health care. The Picture of Palin depicts her as being a figurehead. The drilling poster represents McCain's plan to increase offshore drilling to lower gas prices. The other pictures explain themselves.
This collage is representative of all that the Democratic candidates stand for or against. The health care sign signifies Obama's plan for universal health care. The gun owning ballet signifies Obama's plan to limit guns but still uphold our right to bare arms. The homosexual poster signifies Obama 's support for homosexuals. The rest is pretty much self explanatory. Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Reflection: Applying the Essential Question to the Political Cartoon
These cartoons show how the view of the people change. They also show how there are always people who oppose the people trying to change society. The cartoons represent what we are all thinking about but none of us say. This adds the humour to the cartoon and makes it identify with all of us. These cartoons show how one person can affect the minds of others. It also show the governments affect on the minds of the peoples.
